Protective supervision

Over time, as men and women grow older, cognitive and incapacitating pathologies may appear to threaten a person’s autonomy. Eventually, to protect such vulnerable persons from themselves and from others, the Quebec civil code contains provisions that determine under what conditions various protective supervisions may be ordered (tutorship and curatorship).

Similarly, in cases where a vulnerable person, who is already under a protective supervision, is exposed to abuse from his/her environment, legal recourses may also be taken to insure that such a person receives adequate protection.
