Representing a business, an organization or an individual before the courts requires far more than a strong knowledge of the law. It requires sound judgment, attentive listening, a clear understanding of the issues involved and the ability to act with rigour in often complex matters. It is with this approach that Me Maria Karteris practises law: with seriousness, dedication and consistency.

A partner at Dubé Latreille avocats inc., Maria Karteris leads the firm’s litigation team. She began her career at the firm as an articling student before practising as a lawyer and later becoming a partner in 2017. This professional path reflects a longstanding commitment, a practice grounded in experience and the trusted relationships she has built over the years with clients and colleagues alike.

Her practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, particularly in matters involving civil and contractual liability as well as special proceedings. She regularly represents clients before the courts of Quebec, including the Court of Appeal.

Before pursuing her law degree at the Université de Montréal, Maria Karteris completed a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning at the Université du Québec à Montréal. This background enhances her understanding of the regulatory, administrative and operational issues that may influence certain matters.

Her involvement within the Montreal community also forms an important part of her professional path. Over the years, she has served on the boards of directors of several non-profit organizations. She also served on the Urban Planning Advisory Committee of the Ville Marie borough for eight years, after serving nearly seven years on the committee for Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. These roles led her to contribute to the review of numerous projects related to urban development and land use planning in Montreal.

In her practice, Maria Karteris adopts a direct, pragmatic approach tailored to the realities faced by her clients. Whether in the context of prevention, negotiation or representation before the courts, she provides clear advice and implements legal solutions aligned with her clients’ objectives.
